SPAIN - 90 Euros per Tonne of Infamy

Dentro de las innumerables y oscuras ramificaciones del mas que tenebroso atentado, o en su caso diríamos auto atentado del 11 de Marzo del 2004, la prensa ha destapado un eslabón que está pasando desapercibido una vez más para la pacata opinión publica.  Éste eslabón seria algo que atañe a la mayor destrucción de pruebas de un atentado en la historia judicial española y casi del mundo occidental.  Púes bien, este caso se ha dado con la completa destrucción de los 10 vagones de trenes que fueron desguazados solo a los cuatro días del mortífero atentado.  Y acabaron siendo vendido como vulgar chatarra por el precio de 90 Euros la tonelada.  ¿Cómo fue posible esta criminal y oscura negligencia?  Pues muy sencillo, el juez Juan del Olmo incumplió con su sagrado deber de garantizar la custodia de tales y determinantes pruebas.  Lo más insólito, no quiso extender ordenes algunas para preservar los trenes.  

Ahora nos enteramos que un alto mando de la policía llamó desde la misma Comisaria General de Información al director de Seguridad de RENFE, un tal comisario Rodríguez Simons para autorizarle que destruyeras los vagones de los trenes.  Esto, desde luego, sí se confirma es algo más que serio.  Estamos hablando sencillamente de un verdadero complot de silencio.  ¿Qué alto mando de la policía permitió semejante ocultamiento de pruebas?  ¿Quién consintió a espalda de la justicia esta vergonzosa y diabólica ocultación?  Lo más siniestro viene ahora cuando Miguel Corsini, director de Renfe en 2004 da a entender que el juez Juan del Olmo no dio ninguna orden para la destrucción de los vagones de los trenes.  Y que tampoco le consta que la policía ordenara tal destrucción.  Esto lo dice ahora ante la juez Coro Cillan.  Y yo me digo, a lo mejor los famosos vagones de trenes se autodestruyeron por generación espontanea.  Esto es el colmo del cinismo.  Pero un día se sabrá la verdad y no quisiera está en el pellejo de los verdaderos culpables.  Ése día el pueblo que ha callado no tendrá piedad.  Deseo que la Parca sea magnánimo conmigo y me deje ver el final de esta ignominia.  ¿Quién sabe?  A veces los sueños se cumplen.

In the dark and innumerable ramifications of the very horrible terrorist attack, or we could call it auto-attack carried out on March 11, 2004, the press has uncovered a link that is going to go unnoticed once more for the prudish public opinion.  This link concerns the greatest destruction of evidence in a terrorist attack in Spanish judicial history and that of most of the Western world.  Well, this case has to do with the complete destruction of 10 train carriages which were scrapped just four days after the deadly attack.  And they ended up being sold as vulgar scrap for the price of 90 Euros per tonne.  How was this dark and criminal negligence even possible today?  Very simple, the Judge Juan del Olmo failed in his sacred duty to ensure custody of such decisive evidence.  The most unusual was that he did not even give orders to preserve the trains.

Now we learn that a high commanding officer of the police force gave a call to the director of security of RENFE, Rodríguez Simons, to authorize him to destroy the train carriages.  This, of course, if confirmed, is extremely serious.  We are talking about simply a true conspiracy of silence.  Which high commanding officer of the police force permitted this concealment of evidence?  Who consented to this shameful and diabolical concealment, at the back of justice?  The most sinister now comes when Miguel Corsini, director of Renfe in 2004, affirmed that the judge Juan del Olmo did not give orders for the destruction of the train carriages.  And that neither was he aware that police gave orders of such an act.  He has now given his testimony before the judge Coro Cillan.  And I say to myself, maybe the famous train carriages have auto destructed by themselves spontaneously.  This is the height of cynicism.  But one day we will know the truth and I would not like to be in the shoes of the real culprits.  That day the public who have been silent for so long will not show any mercy.  I hope that Destiny will be magnanimous with me and let me live long enough to be able to witness the fall of the culprits.  Who knows? Sometimes dreams really do come true.

ESPAÑA – Tauromaquia y Política

Amparándose en una compungida e hipócrita sensibilidad hacía la crueldad de las corrida de toros, un par de indeseables que pululan dentro del mosaico que compone la casta política de España han puesto el grito en el cielo, llegando uno de ellos un tal Joan Tarda a afirmar que la única manera de que se celebren corrida de toros en su abúlica y cateta región que es Catalunya es a través de que La Legión vuelva allí.  Yo como caballero legionario le digo a usted, pedazo de cabestro, que encantado, pues con mis casi 66 primavera en mi espalda, no me desagradaría ponerme de nuevo este glorioso uniforme que lucí durante 18 largos meses en el Sahara.  Me pregunto, ¿qué clase de patología enfermiza se aposenta en el cerebro de este pobre hombre?  El odio a España es su único alimento.  En fin este mequetrefe morirá y nunca vera sus vomitivos sueños realizado, púes Catalunya es y siempre será una región española.

El otro caso es más repugnante, se trata de otro miserable llamado Chesus Yuste.  Este Zopenco representa a Izquierda plural en La región de Aragón.  El muy malvado dentro de su venenoso odio a España y a todo símbolo representativo de nuestra cultura llega en su paroxismo demencial a equiparar las corridas de toros con el sufrimiento y la muerte de millones de judíos en los campos de exterminios nazis.  Y en particular con el tenebroso de AUSCHWITZ.  Sepa, so cabestro que tanto un toro animal noble como un ciudadano de Israel derramaron su preciosa sangre.  Pero usted de seguro, que tiene mierda en sus venas.  ¿Sabe que les digo a ustedes dos so cenutrios?  No llamen mas la desgracia a sus puertas.  Y si de verdad se quieren apiadar de alguien, Usted Joan Tarda, se podría apiadar  por los miles de católicos asesinados en su querida Catalunya durante el nefasto periodo del criminal Lluís Companys de infausto recuerdo.  Y a Usted, Chesus Yuste, déjese de monsergas y derrame unas lagrimas por los miles de personas que fueron asesinadas por las milicias anarquistas y comunistas en esa  hermosa región que es Aragon.  Pero no ponga nunca mas como ejemplo al sufrido pueblo judío como vil excusa.  Conclusión, váyanse los dos a compartir su mierda con una piaras de cerdos.

MODERN TIMES – Obama vs. the Catholic Faith

Alguien con poderes otorgados por masas iletradas y amorfas ha decidido echarle un pulso al mismísimo Dios.  Y este sujeto no es otro que el presidente de USA, Míster Barack Obama.  ¿Cómo se atreve el Señor Obama a semejante acto de soberbia contra El Creador, el Creador del Universo?  Él que nos ha dado la gracia de ser humano para poder contemplar una puesta de sol, o la majestuosidad de las cataratas de Iguazú.  Él que nos ha dado una conciencia para poder distinguir el bien del mal, él que un día nos llamara para sentarnos a su diestra.  Pues bien este ser humano aun así se atreve a retarle.  ¿Por qué soy hoy tan bíblico?, dirán algunos al leer mi articulo.  La verdad es que hay motive para ello.  Resulta que el gobierno de Obama está empeñado y pretende obligar a los centros sanitarios y asistenciales católicos a ofrecer medios anticonceptivos a sus pacientes.  También quiere que las practicas del aborto sean subvencionada desde las mismas instituciones religiosas.

La Iglesia Católica en USA tiene miles de instituciones sociales, como colegios, hospitales, asilos, comedores sociales, centros de atención a drogodependientes o a emigrantes.  Como obliga la ley, los empleados de estos centros tienen un seguro medico para sus trabajadores?  Sin embargo ese seguro no incluye el acceso a determinadas prestaciones que van en contra de la moral católica, por ejemplo si uno de esos empleados quiere abortar, el seguro que les ofrece la iglesia no le paga el aborto, se lo tendrá que pagar ella por su cuenta.  O si quiere utilizar anticonceptivos lo tendrá que pagar de su bolsillo.

Pues bien, ahora Obama quiere que esos seguros se incluyan cosas que van abiertamente contra la moral católica.  Deberán ofrecer anticonceptivos y también píldoras abortivas.  De esta manera, la iglesia se hará cómplice de hechos que considera gravísimos.  Ante estas desmedidas y dictatoriales medidas, 126 obispos católicos llaman a la movilización.  La respuesta no se ha hecho esperar.  El Arzobispo de New York Timothy M.Dolan ha dicho que Obama quiere obligar a los ciudadanos de USA a elegir entre violar su conciencia o abandonar sus seguros de salud y esto es algo deplorable.  Conclusión, muchos católicos podrían ir a la cárcel por oponerse a las nefastas imposiciones de este Nuevo Nerón.

Someone with powers granted by illiterate and amorphous masses has decided to throw down a challenge to God Himself.  And this subject is none other than the President of USA, Mr. Barack Obama.  How dare Mr. Obama commit such an act of arrogance against the Creator, the Creator of the universe?  He who has given us the grace of contemplating a sunset, or the majestic Iguazu Falls.  He who has given us a conscience in order to distinguish good from bad, he who will one day call upon us to sit at his right hand.  Well, this human being now has the audacity to challenge him.  Why am I so biblical today?, some might comment while reading my article.  The truth is that there is good reason for being so.  It turns out that the Obama Government is committed to new measures and aims to force the Catholic health and welfare centres to offer contraception to their patients.  It also wants the abortions be subsidized by the same religious institutions.

The Catholic Church in the USA has thousands of social institutions, such as schools, hospitals, nursing homes, social food halls, centres for rehabilitating drug addicts or centres for immigrants.  As required by the law, the employees of these centres are insured for medical assistance.  However, this insurance does not include access to certain benefits that goes against the morals of the Catholic faith, for example if one of these employees want to abort, the insurance policy offered by the Church will not pay for the abortion, she will have to pay for it by herself.  Or if you want to use contraceptives it will also have to be out of pocket.

Well, now Obama wants that such insurance policies include compensations which are openly against the Catholic morality.  The policies should now offer contraception and abortion pills.  In this way, the Church will be an accomplice in acts considered very serious against the Faith.  Faced with these excessive and dictatorial measures, 126 Catholic Bishops has called upon the supporters to be mobilized.  The response has been better than expected.  The Archbishop of New York, Timothy M.Dolan said that Obama wants to compel citizens of USA to choose between violating their conscience or abandoning their health insurance, and this is something deplorable.  In conclusion, many Catholics could go to prison for opposing the harmful impositions of this new Nero.

HISTORY – The Epic Portuguese Odysseys of Centuries XV, XVI, XVII

Uno de los imperios más asombroso que siempre me han fascinado, aparte del imperio de mi propio país que es España, este fue el épico y grandioso imperio que construyo una nación tan pequeña como era Portugal.  Púes siempre se tiende a minimizar los logros de este hermoso país.  Creo que es digno de sentirse más que orgulloso de pertenecer a un pequeño país, que tuvo un imperio de más de 12 millones de kilómetros cuadrado de extensión.  Esto era sencillamente increíble para la época.  El imperio portugués fue uno de los mas temprano dentro del periodo colonial de Europa.  Y se afianzó durante seis largos siglos.  Esto comenzó con la captura de la ciudad de Ceuta allá por el 1415 y termino con la entrega de la colonia de Macao a China en el 1999.  Los valerosos exploradores y marineros portugueses comenzaron sus hazañas en las costas de África para seguir mas tarde el camino a Asia.  Ya en el 1571 se podía conectar una incipiente vía comercial entre el puerto de Lisboa y la ciudad japonesa de Nagasaki.

La osadía e intrepidez de los marineros portugueses no tenían límites.  Al llegar a la India dejaron su influencia no solo en Goa sino hasta en Bombay.  Como fruto de esto aun hoy en día es muy nutrida la presencia del Cristianismo en la zona.  Parece tan insólito que esta nación pudiera haber abarcado tanto terreno y países, que con razón uno de sus grandes poetas Luis de Camoes lo inmortalizara, en su monumental obra poética Os Lusiades escrito en 1572, donde exalta la gran gesta del insigne marino Vasco de Gama.  Los demás países europeos ante estas grandes y majestuosas epopeyas homéricas protagonizadas por Portugal y España, siempre sintieron una gran envidia y hostilidad.  Nunca nos perdonaron que introdujéramos la palabra de Cristo en esas lejanas tierras.  Mientras escribo este corto artículo hago un sincero homenaje a esta noble nación, escuchando un melancólico fado de Amalia Rodrigues y al mismo tiempo ojeo a Fernando Pessoa.  ¿Qué mas puede uno pedir?  Boa noite.

One of the most amazing empires that has always fascinated me, apart from that of my own country which is Spain, would be that of the epic and grandiose Empire that was built by a nation as small as Portugal.  Well, many tend to minimize the accomplishments of this beautiful country.  I believe that one must be filled with pride just to belong to this small country, which had an empire that spanned more than 12 million square kilometers in area.  This was simply amazing at the time.  The Portuguese Empire was one of the most early in the colonial period of Europe.  And it consolidated its power over six long centuries.  This began with the capture of the city of Ceuta back in 1415 and ended with the surrender of the colony of Macau to China in 1999.  Courageous explorers and Portuguese sailors began their exploits on the shores of Africa to later continue along their routes to Asia.  Even way back in 1571 one could trace a nascent trade route connecting the port of Lisbon and the Japanese city of Nagasaki.

The valor and the boldness of the Portuguese sailors knew no limits.  Arriving in India they not only left their influence in Goa but even in Bombay.  Even today the presence of Christianity in the area is very rich as a result of this.  It seems so unusual that this nation could have covered so much ground and set foot upon so many countries, which one of its greatest poets Luis Camoes rightly immortalized in his monumental poetic work Os Lusiades written in 1572, which exalts the great epic odyssey of the famous explorer Vasco da Gama.  Upon witnessing this expansion of influence in the great and majestic odysseys of Portugal and Spain, other European countries have always felt a strong sense of envy and hostility.  These other countries have never forgiven us for introducing the word of Christ in those distant lands.  As I write this short article I pay a sincere tribute to this noble nation, while listening to a melancholic Amalia Rodrigues fado and at the same time flipping through the works of Fernando Pessoa.  What more pleasure can one ask for?  Boa noite.

HISTORY – The Bonus Army of 1932

Dentro de los terribles años de la Gran Depresión que golpearon a los EE.UU, hubo un caso muy singular que retrata de una manera fehaciente cuál seria la respuesta de las autoridades y los gobiernos en caso de disturbios sociales debido a largos periodos de austeridad o recesión.  Y la respuesta sin duda alguna seria una salvaje represión.  Eso fue lo que ocurrió en USA cuando era presidente de la nación Herber Hoover, y el evento que lo desencadeno fue el Bonus Army.  El Bonus Army era como un titulo del tesoro que se adjudicaba a los soldados americanos que habían luchado en la primera guerra mundial.  A cada soldado se le asignó un bono por valor de un dólar por día de servicio en EE.UU durante la contienda.  Pero que en caso de servir en el extranjero pasaba a ser de un dólar con 25 céntimos por día.  Lo que ocurrió fue que debido a la gran depresión los veteranos de guerra querían y necesitaban el dinero ya no en 1945, que era cuando vencía tales bonus.

Fue así que en el verano del 1932 más de 25,000 veteranos sin trabajos decidieron acampar casi en las mismísimas puertas del Capitolio.  La respuesta del presidente Hoover no se hizo esperar.  Primero rechazó pagarle ni un centavo, al contrario mandó tanques y a la caballería para sofocar estas justas protestas.  Hoover como muchos otros líderes de USA no supo captar la gravedad de la gran depresión.  Y encima el muy ignorante se atrevió a pronosticar que la recuperación estaba a la vuelta de la esquina.  No solo eso el tal Hoover atacó a los líderes de Europa por adoptar medidas de protección para los cientos de miles de desempleados que lo necesitaban de forma perentoria.  Hoover decía que tales ayudas restaban estímulos a la población, púes los desempleados dejarían de buscar sus propias soluciones y los más graves dejarían de trabajar.  Púes bien este siniestro pajarraco mandó a la flor y nata del ejército contra su propio pueblo.  Los encargados para su deshonra fueron los que irónicamente más tarde serian los héroes de la segunda guerra mundial.  Éstos son Douglas Mac Arthur, George Patton y el último Dwight Eisenhower.  Este fue más tarde presidente de la nación.  En la represión murieron más de 10 personas y hubo 1,000 heridos.  Conclusión, la historia siempre se repite y ahora será más grave la represión en caso de estallidos sociales.

In the terrible years of the great depression in the United States, there was a very unique case that portrayed accurately the very response of the authorities and Governments in the event of unrest due to long periods of austerity or recession.  And the answer no doubt would be a savage repression.  That was what happened in the USA when the then President of the nation, Hebert Hoover, and the event that led to the repression was the issuance of the Bonus Army.  The Bonus Army was the name of the Treasury Bonds awarded to American soldiers who had fought in World War I.  Each soldier was given a bonus amounting to one dollar per day of service in the United States Army during the war.  In the case of those who served abroad the bonus was calculated at a dollar 25 cents per day.  What happened was that due to the great depression war veterans wanted and needed the money at once and not in 1945, which was when the bonus will mature.

It was thus that in the summer of 1932 more than 25,000 veterans without jobs decided to camp right at the doors of the Capitol.  President Hoover's response was swift.  He first refused to pay even a penny; instead he sent tanks and cavalry to quell these fair protests.  Hoover, just like many other leaders of the USA failed to grasp the severity of the great depression.  And above all the ignorant president had the audacity to predict that the recovery was just around the corner.  Not only that, Hoover also attacked Europe's leaders for adopting protection measures for the hundreds of thousands of unemployed people needing immediate assistance.  Hoover said that if such aid were given as stimulus to the people, then the unemployed would not seek out their own solutions and more seriously would cease to work altogether.  Well, this sinister figure decided to send the cream of the army to quell the protests of his own people.  Those responsible for this disgraceful event were those who ironically would later be the heroes of World War II.  They were Douglas Mac Arthur, George Patton and lastly Dwight Eisenhower, who would later become President of the nation.  In the Suppression more than 10 people were killed and 1,000 injured.  In conclusion, history always repeats itself, and today the suppression of the people in the case of social outbreaks would be even more serious.

ECONOMICS - Chocolate Y Teardrops

Detrás de cada tableta de chocolate está el trabajo, la explotación, la miseria, las lagrimas de miles de niños africanos que a día de hoy son tratados como los nuevos esclavos del siglo XXI.  La disminución de la producción de cacao africano aun no se nota en el precio, en parte a las grandes reservas acumuladas por las compañías que comercializan este producto.  Las cosas se pondrán serias cuando se agoten.  Tomar un chocolate con churros es algo muy popular en España.  Podría ocurrir que a partir del 2015 solamente podamos tomar los churros.  Según las más sombrías predicciones del experto en cacao Angus Kennedy, de aquí a 20 años el chocolate, el de verdad, el que lleva genuino cacao, será tan caro como el caviar.  Esto se debe a que cada año hay menos cacao en el mercado, lo cual hace que suba su precio.  Unas de las razones se sitúan en dos países africanos, Costa de Marfil y Ghana.  Entre ambos llegan a producir el 50 por ciento de la cosecha mundial.  Las plantaciones de cacao están muriendo.  ¿La causa?  Los bajísimos precios.  Un ejemplo seria que un agricultor gana menos que 80 céntimos de dólar al día.  Le es más rentable dedicarse a cultivar otro tipo de planta.

Cuando más alto estuvo el precio del cacao fue en la década de los 70.  Alcanzo su máximo histórico en 1977, cuando se cotizaba a 3,000 libras esterlinas por cada tonelada de grano en el mercado de Londres.  Este dato hizo que la producción a nivel mundial aumentara de forma sustancial hasta llegar a comienzo de los años 90, momento en que la oferta de grano llegó a ser superior a la demanda.  Por consiguiente los precios se hundieron, llegando solo a pagarse 300 libras por tonelada.  La situación no ha mejorado para nada.  Poco a poco el cacao africano ha ido disminuyendo en los mercados.  El peligro seria que desapareciese, pues nadie quiere trabajar en los campos con salarios tan mezquinos.  Para suplir esta eventualidad los cuervos de siempre han optado por la mano de obra infantil.  Al enterarse las organizaciones humanitarias de esta vuelta a la esclavitud infantil, montaron unas campañas de boicot a los países donde se estaba instalando estas abominables prácticas.  Los países en cuestión son Costa de Marfil y Ghana.  Como consecuencia de esto, si en 1980 los ingresos por las ventas de cacao suponían un 60 por ciento de los beneficios, al día de hoy solo es un 20 por ciento.  Eso si los pulpo de los especuladores han conseguido que en 2011 los precios subieran un 40 por ciento.  Púes la demanda no cesa y en el 2011 se consumieron 3.6 millones de toneladas de cacao, frente a los 2.8 millones que se produjeron.  Conclusión, consumir chocolate se esta convirtiendo en un lujo, eso si a costa de las lagrimas de unos chiquillos africanos.  ¿Que aun les parece dulce el sabor del chocolate?

Behind every bar of chocolate there is labour, exploitation, misery, tears of thousands of African children that are being treated as the new slaves of the 21st century.  The decline of African cocoa production is still not perceptible in its price, in part due to the large reserves accumulated by the companies that sell this product.  Things will get serious when the reserves run out.  Eating chocolate with churros is something very popular in Spain.  It could be that 2015 we would only be able to eat churros.  According to the bleak predictions of the expert on cocoa Angus Kennedy, the true commodity cocoa would be as expensive as caviar within 20 years.  This is because every year there will be less cocoa on the market, which would exert upward pressure on its price.  Part of the reason lies in two African countries, Ivory Coast and Ghana.  Between them they produce 50 percent of the global harvest.  The cocoa plantations are dying.  The cause?  Very low prices.  An example would be that of a farmer who earns less than 80 cents a day.  It would be more profitable for him to devote himself to cultivate another type of crop.

The price of cocoa was at its highest in the 1970s. It reached its historical peak in 1977, when it was trading at 3,000 pounds sterling for every ton in the London market.  This inflation led to increased global production, substantially up to the beginning of the 1990s, when the supply of cocoa exceeded its demand.  Thus the prices sank, reaching just 300 pounds per ton.  The situation has not improved at all.  Little by little the African cocoa has been declining in the markets.  This serious scarcity is due to the fact that nobody wants to work in the fields with such petty wages.  To solve this problem the vultures have resorted to child labour.  Upon receiving information of this practice, the humanitarian organizations have initiated campaigns boycotting the countries that have resorted to these abominable practices.  The countries in question are Ivory Coast and Ghana.  As a result of this, as compared to 1980 when cocoa sales revenue accounted for 60 per cent of its income, today it is only 20 percent.  Even if the speculators have managed to increase the price of cocoa by 40 percent in 2011, demand has not waned as in 2011, a total of 3.6 million tons of cocoa have been consumed as compared to the 2.8 million produced.  Conclusion, eating chocolate is becoming a luxury, that if at the expense of the tears of a few African children. Who is savoring the sweet taste of chocolate now?

POLITICS – Montesquieu and the Black People

A veces los grandes hombres tienen sus meteduras de patas.  Un caso digno de mencionar para mí sería la del gran padre de la Ciencia Política, El Barón de Montesquieu.  Este  gran pensador escribió su monumental obra El Espíritu De Las Leyes allá por el 1748 y en un apartado hablaba sobre la esclavitud y los negros.

<Si yo tuviera que defender el derecho que hemos tenido los blancos para hacer esclavos a los negros, he aquí todo lo que diría.  Exterminado los pueblos de América por lo de Europa, éstos últimos necesitaron, para desmontar las tierras, llevar esclavos de África.  El azúcar seria demasiado caro si no se obliga a los negros a cultivar la caña de azúcar.  Ésos esclavos son negros de los pies a la cabeza, y tienen la nariz tan aplastada que es casi imposible compadecerlos.  No se concibe que Dios un ser tan sapientísimo, haya puesto un alma en un cuerpo tan negro, y un alma buena, es aun mas inconcebible en un cuerpo semejante.  Es tan natural creer que el color constituye la esencia de la humanidad, que los pueblos de Asia, al hacer eunucos, privan siempre a los negros de la relación más señaladas que tienen con nosotros.

La prueba de que los negros no tienen sentido común, es que prefieren un collar de vidrio a uno de oro, cuando el oro es tan estimable en los países cultos.  Es imposible suponer que tales seres sean hombres, porque si lo supiéramos, deberíamos creer que nosotros no somos cristianos.  Espíritus pequeños han exagerado la injusticias que se cometen con los negros africanos, porque si fuera cierto lo que dicen,  ¿cómo no habían pensado los príncipes de Europa, que ajuntan tantos tratados inútiles, en celebrar uno mas a favor de la piedad y de la misericordia?>  Aparte de estas opiniones innobles en un personaje de su portentoso talento, Montesquieu  fue un gran precursor del liberalismo y eso es digno de admirar.

Sometimes the important men in history have had their slip ups.  A case worthy of mention for me would be the great father of political science, the Baron of Montesquieu.  This great thinker wrote his monumental work The Spirit of the Laws way back in 1748 and in a section of the book he talked about slavery and the blacks.

< If I had to defend the right that we the whites have to impose slavery upon the blacks, this would be everything that I would say.  Exterminated the people of America for those of Europe, the latter needed to work the lands, carrying slaves from Africa.  Sugar would be too expensive if the blacks did not cultivate sugar cane.  Those slaves are black from the feet to the head, and have the nose so crushed that it is almost impossible to pity them.  It is not conceivable that God being so all knowing would put a soul in a body as black, and a good soul at that, it is even more inconceivable in a similar body.  It is so natural to believe that colour is the essence of humanity, that the peoples of Asia, by creating eunuchs, deprive the blacks of the relationships most significant that is more associated with us.

The proof that Blacks have no common sense is that they prefer a necklace of glass one of gold, when the gold is such an esteemed article in many cultured countries.  It is impossible to suppose that such beings are men, because if we were to know, then we would have to believe that we are not Christians. Insignificant spirits have exaggerated the injustices being committed against the black Africans, because if it were true what they say, how is it that the Princes of Europe, who have reached so many useless treaties, not though of formulating one more in favour of piety and mercy? >  In spite of such ignoble views expressed by a person with so much prodigious talent, Montesquieu was a great precursor of liberalism and that alone is worthy of admiration.

PHILOSOPHY - Our Innate Violence

La mayoría de nosotros, sea de religiones o razas diferentes, e incluso de clases sociales con grandes desigualdades, somos presos de la violencia debido en que en algún momento, sentimos un antagonismo hacia algo o  sobre alguien en particular.  El hombre ha sido violento por siglos en este mundo.  Desde luego las Religiones en algunos casos han intentado controlar esta amarga hemorragia pero nunca lo consiguieron.  Lo más triste, algunas religiones impulsan a la violencia.  Un caso más que elocuente seria el Islamismo.  La violencia no es solamente matar a otro; es violencia cuando hago un gesto de rechazo hacia otro ser humano.  La violencia no se trata solo de las continuas carnicerías organizadas en el nombre de Dios, de la sociedad o de cualquier otro problema concerniente a cualquier país.  La violencia es un sentimiento mucho más sutil y profundo.  Por ejemplo si usted se llama a si mismo hindu, mulsulman, católico etcétera, esta siendo violento.  En ese momento esta separándose del resto de la humanidad.  Cuando nos separamos del resto debido a nuestras creencias, nacionalidad o tradiciones, entonces nace el germen de la violencia.

Una de las expresiones más común de la violencia seria la Ira.  Cuando mi mujer o hija es atacada digo que estoy airado y con razón, o cuando mis ideas políticas o religiosas están siendo asaltadas también me sube la ira.  Si usted me insulta me pondré como una fiera; y mas airado si se acuesta con mi mujer; esa ira violenta es justa.  Púes el concepto que tengo sobre ella es que es algo de mi propiedad.  Toda esa violencia esta mas que justificada.  Y por supuesto matar por mi país esta moralmente justificado, si intento proteger a mi familia, a mi país, a un trozo de trapo al que llamamos bandera, una idea, un dogma.  Eso se transforma en violencia justificada pero al fin de cuenta es violencia.  

En si es muy complicado salir de la violencia y no ser engullido por ella.  Donde quiera que haya una división habrá un conflicto.  Es una ley universal y eterna.  Dónde haya separación, ruptura en dos parte habrá conflicto.  ¿Cómo podemos parar esto?, nos preguntamos, intentando dar con la clave.  La cruda realidad es que no hay respuesta y que nunca la hubo.  A pesar de que algunos hombres santos lo intentaran con sus doctrina de amor, ellos tampoco tenían la llave que cerrase ese demonio interior que cada día nos esta devorando, y que no es otra cosa que la ira y la violencia.  Haga la prueba usted mismo y dígase honestamente, si en un día no ha sentido ira y violencia por algo o por alguien.  Una vez más, que suerte tiene un simple pajarillo, libre de esta herencia maldita llamada violencia.

Most of us, may we be of different races or religions, or even social classes with large inequalities, we fall prey to violence at some point as we feel antagonism towards something or someone in particular.  Man has felt violence for centuries in this world.  It is certain that religions in some cases, have attempted to control this bitter expression of emotion but they never succeeded.  The saddest thing is that some religions encourage violence.  A very fitting example would be the case of Islam.  Violence is not only killing another; violence is when there exists of gesture of rejection towards another human being.  Violence is not only the incessant massacres organized in the name of God, society or any other issue relating to any country.  Violence is a much more subtle and deeply rooted.  For example, if you call yourself a Hindus, Muslim, Catholic etc, this being violent.  At this point there is a separation from the rest of humanity.  When we separate ourselves from the rest due to our beliefs, nationalities or traditions, the seeds of violence are being sowed.

One of the most common expressions of severe violence is rage.  When my wife or daughter is attacked, I would get extremely angry, and with good reason, or when my political or religious ideas are being assaulted it also raises me anger.  If you insult me I react with fiery anger; more so if you sleep with my wife, in which case this violent wrath is logical.  This is due to the concept that I have about her, as part of my property.  All this violence would be more than justified.  And of course killing for my country is morally justified, if I try to protect my family, my country, a piece of cloth which we call our flag, an idea or dogma.  All these cases constitute justified violence but at the end of the day it is still violence.

It is very difficult to abandon violence and not be swallowed by it.  Wherever there is a Division there will be a conflict.  It is a universal and eternal law.  Where there is separation, in two or more parts there will be conflict.  "How can we stop it?" many have wondered, trying to come up with the key.  The stark reality is that there is no answer, if ever there was one.  While some saints have tried to preach the doctrine of love, they had nevertheless failed to extradite the inner demon is devouring is every day; the inner demon that is none other than anger and violence.  Put it to the test yourself and ask yourself if a day has past then you have not felt anger and violence towards something or someone.  Once again, how lucky is the little bird, free from this cursed genetic inheritance called violence.
