HISTORY – THE EVIL MENGISTU HAILE MARIAN

September 12, 1974 was a bitter day for the ancient people of Ethiopia.  On that fateful day the bloody military coup led by Mengistu Haile Marian ended the feudal regime of Emperor Halie Selassie, better known as the Negus or King of Kings, a result of his megalomania as he believed himself to be the incarnation of Christ.  This character was a legend for the Ethiopians, as he led the fight in the 1930s against the colonialist and fascist troops of Benito Mussolini.  The brilliant Negus was able to inflict a humiliating defeat upon the Italian troops.  Well, 40 years after that victory, his throne and his life succumbed to the rising new power embodied by the bloodthirsty Mengistu.  This character was a lover of the Soviet political model and in his office there were huge portraits of Marx, Lenin, Stalin and Mao.  As part of his Communist delirium, he was perceived as the new Messiah who would save the third world from the clutches of Western imperialism.  This new communist Negus dictatorship lasted 17 long years and caused bloodshe and pain to the Ethiopian people.  This criminal counted on the support of his death squads called the terrible Kebeles.  During 1977 to 1979, the streets of the Ethiopian capital was often piled up with hundreds of corpses.

These wild massacres were carried out against youths who opposed the Communist dictatorship of Mengistu, and the Kebeles were the perpetrators of the bloody carnage.  But not only that, the Mengistu himself strangled with his own hands the Emperor Halie Selassie in 1975.  The red terror which hit Ethiopia claimed more than half a million of victims.  The most sordid of this was that it had the estimable aid from the Soviet Union and Cuba of Fidel Castro.  The Soviets had 10,000 agents who helped in the tasks of repression against oppositors to the tyranny of Mengistu.  One of the measures which Mengistu implemented in Ethiopia after seizing power was the abolition of private property.  He also sent the farmers to work in the communes, following the model of the Chinese revolution.  Mengistu was also guilty of the great famine in 1984 which caused hundreds of thousands of deaths.  This was due to his ill-fated planning with regards to the agricultural system of the country as the result of the indiscriminate felling of forests.  At the same time, he allocated 50 per cent of GDP on military expenditures, as he could not give a damn about the deaths by starvation of thousands of Ethiopian children.  In the Decade of the 1980s the Soviet Union provided the Communist Government of Mengistu with aid amounting to 10,000 million of dollars.  That money was of course not designated for the alleviating of the calamities and the improvement of the Ethiopian citizens living conditions.  The reign of this jackal was finally ended in 1991.  He now lives a life a riches in Zimbabwe where he is being protected by the cruel Robert Mugabe, another remorseless killer.
