SPAIN - La Macarena y La Semana Santa

No es nada facil de explicar y menos para una persona no religiosa y de cultura anglosajona la fascinacion que experimentará si por alguna razon visita la ciudad de Sevilla en Semana Santa.  Pues el choque cultura es brutal cuando tu ves la espontanea emocíon y popular devocíon que embarga este increible evento.  Si eres un amante del arte barroco disfrutarás de la estetica de los pasos y contemplarás la religiosidad propia de nuestro catolisismo.  No podemos tampoco ignorar el sentido pagano que envuelve nuestra semana santa.

Este evento se remonta a la edad media.  Durante el siglo 20 en la segunda republica se dieron casos de enfrentamientos por motivos politicos y sociales y esto perjudicó a la semana santa.  Unas de las imagenes de mayor devocion sin duda es La Macarena.  Me faltarían palabras para describir este maravilloso evento.  Estas increibles y hermosas fotos lo dicen todo.  Espero que disfruten con ellas pues en mi opinion la Semana Santa es una fiesta total para los sentidos.


It is not easy to explain to someone who is not religious or who is anglo saxon, the fascination that they will experience if for some reason they visit Seville during the Holy Week (Easter).  The culture shock is brutal when you witness the spontaneous emotion and popular devotion that fills this incredible event.  If you are a lover of baroque art, you will enjoy the esthetique of the procession and you will be able to contemplate the religious essence of the catholic faith.  We cannot ignore the pagan feel that surrounds the Holy Week.

This event is reminiscent of the middle ages.  During the 20th century, the second republic there were instances of clashes due to political and social reasons and this adversely affected the Holy Week.  One of the images of great devotion is without doubt the Macarena.  I am lost for words to describe this marvellous event.  These incredible and beautiful photos say it all.  I hope all of you enjoy these photos, well in my opinion the Holy Week is a feast for all the senses.
