SPAIN - 20 November: A Fiesta for Crocodiles

El viejo y bien pagado oficio de plañideras se ha puesto de moda en España, sobre todo entre la jerarquía del partido socialista español.  El lacrimoso evento ha tenido lugar después que nuestros viejos y conocidos asesinos, la organización terrorista ETA, en una pomposa puesta en escena, anunciará en un comunicado el fin de la lucha armada.  No falto ni un minuto para que todo el mundo hablara de que la Paz se había conseguido al fin.  Fue entonces cuando los prebostes del PSOE comenzaron a llorar como Magdalena desconsoladas, poniendo gran énfasis en tal cometido.  Las lagrimas que jamás habían sido derramadas por los centenares de asesinado por ETA.  Tuvieron sin embargo en esta ocasión una salida cuidadosa antes los medios de comunicación.

Yo me pregunto esas lagrimas de que calidad son.  ¿Son lágrimas de felicidad por el manido comunicado de Paz?  ¿O son lágrimas de agradecimiento por ayudarles en impulsar su alicaída campaña para las elecciones del día 20 de Noviembre? Siendo uno malévolo diríamos que son las clásicas lágrimas de cocodrilo.  Otra cosa que me pregunto,  ¿Como cotizaran esas lágrimas en el mercado del voto electoral?  Posiblemente esas lagrimas pueden dar pingues beneficios.  ¿Qué votante socialista no se sentirá conmovido ante esta más que espontaneas lágrimas?  Hasta pueden poner como lema para su campaña, las lagrimas al poder.  ¡Dios mío!  No podía sospechar que a Boabdil el Chico, el último rey árabe de Granada, famoso por su llanto al ver perdido su reino, le habían salido estos mediocres imitadores.

En fin esperemos que la mañana del 21 de Noviembre, esas lágrimas broten de verdad por la pérdida de su hegemonía.  Claro que si así fuera serán lagrimas de ira o rabia ante la hecatombe en las urnas.  Una cosa es segura, habrá llanto y crujir de dientes en las filas del socialismo español.

 Los cocodrilos son animales que lloran mucho.  Y no por que sean animales con un alto grado de sentimientos.  Suelen llorar al salir del agua, debido a que los ojos del cocodrilo necesitan estar siempre húmedo.  También lloran al devorar a sus víctimas.  El cocodrilo llora fuera del agua, en otras palabras sus glándulas segregan lágrimas para poder humedecer el ojo.  El día 21 de Noviembre los vendedores de pañuelos harán un buen negocio.

The ancient and highly paid profession of hired mourners has lately come into fashion in Spain, mainly among the ranks of the Spanish socialist party.  The tearful event took place after our dear old friends and assassins, the terrorist organization ETA, in a pompous show, announced in an official notice the cease in armed warfare.  It did not take one minute before the whole world was singing the praises that peace had finally been attained.  It was then when the provosts of the PSOE began to cry like Mary Magdalene, inconsolable, putting great emphasis on their act.  On the other hand not a tear was shed for the hundreds of victims assassinated by ETA.  On this occasion they had a grand outing before the watchful eyes of the mass media.

I ask myself, what is the significance of these tears?   Are these the tears of happiness for the well worn message of Peace?   Or are these the tears of gratefulness for the boost it gives to their ailing electoral campaign on the 20 of November?  Being malevolent, one would say that these are the classic crocodile tears.  Another thing that I ask myself, what is the value of those tears in the market of the electoral vote?  Possibly those tears will bear lucrative fruits.   Which Socialist will not be moved by these more than spontaneous tears?  They can even use this as a motto for its campaign, the tears to power.   My God!  I could not even begin to suspect that there would be such shameless mediocre imitators of Boabdil el Chico, the last Arab King of Granada, famous for his weeping when he lost his kingdom.

At the end of the day, let’s hope that on the morning of the 21 of November, those tears will really be shed when the results show that they have lost their hegemony.  It would surely be tears of wrath and rage at the ballot boxes.  One thing is certain, there will be weeping and gnawing of teeth among the ranks of Spanish socialism. 

The crocodiles are animals that cry a lot.  And this is not because they are animals with a high degree of sentiment.  Usually they cry when they come out of the water, because the eyes of the crocodile need to be always humid.  They also cry when devouring their victims.  The crocodile cries when they are out of the water, in other words its glands secrete tears to be able to dampen their eyes.  On the 21 of November retailers selling handkerchiefs will make a killing.
